About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires expertise in animal handling, data collection, and research project coordination. As a Research Project Officer, you will be working under general supervision to perform routine animal handling or operational tasks, design and implement protocols to achieve research objectives, collect samples, identify anomalies, and report results.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and demonstrate adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing routine animal handling or operational tasks requiring skills developed through experience or training.
  • Designing and implementing routine protocols to achieve research objectives.
  • Collecting samples according to defined standards and ensuring they are stored and identified correctly.
  • Identifying and reporting anomalies and co-designing solutions where appropriate.
  • Assisting in establishing experiments, monitoring, summarizing, and recording results.
  • Designing new processes or apparatus by adapting existing techniques and components to meet special circumstances or undertaking modifications to methods requiring some level of innovation.
  • Communicating openly, effectively, and respectfully with all staff, clients, and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration, and enhancement of scientific reputation.
Requirements
  • Degree in Animal Science, Livestock Production, or related field.
  • Proven experience in animal handling, data collection, and research project coordination.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications.
