Marine Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Research Scientist to support our Integrated Marine Observing System. The successful candidate will play a vital role in collecting and analyzing data from our oceanographic reference stations and regional moorings.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist with a passion for marine research to join our team. As a Marine Research Scientist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality time series data streams through calibration, data processing, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Provide high-quality time series data streams from the IMOS moorings array through calibration, data processing, and analysis.
  • Scientific Research: Support scientific research through the application of your scientific and technical expertise in the operation and deployment of AIMS and IMOS Oceanographic and Meteorological instruments.
  • Fieldwork: Participate in fieldwork at sea to service, deploy, and recover equipment.

As a Marine Research Scientist, you will have the opportunity to work in laboratory and field environments, applying your scientific and technical expertise in the operation and deployment of AIMS and IMOS Oceanographic and Meteorological instruments.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in physics, mathematics, physical oceanography, engineering, or equivalent technical expertise in a related field. You will also need to demonstrate a wide variety of marine instrumentation experience, including applied understanding of oceanography, experience in MATLAB and/or Python computer programming, data analysis, database applications, and working knowledge of electronic instrumentation and PC systems.
