Experimental Science Specialist

At the forefront of marine research, we are seeking an exceptional Experimental Scientist to play a pivotal role in Australia's Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS). The IMOS National Moorings Network is a flagship initiative designed to monitor oceanographic phenomena in Australian coastal ocean waters.
">About the Role- This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with our team to provide high-quality time series data streams from the IMOS moorings array through calibration, data processing and analysis.
- As part of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for deploying and servicing equipment at sea, as well as contributing to the planning of field trips.
We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of physics, mathematics, physical oceanography, engineering or equivalent technical expertise in a related field. Experience with MATLAB and/or Python computer programming, data analysis, database applications or equivalent, as well as knowledge of electronic instrumentation and PC systems, is highly desirable.
">Key Responsibilities- Conducting rigorous data analysis and processing using advanced software tools.
- Maintaining and upgrading electronic instrumentation and PC systems.
- Providing expert advice on data interpretation and presentation.
- Relevant degree in physics, mathematics, physical oceanography, engineering or equivalent technical expertise in a related field.
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Python computer programming, data analysis, database applications or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of electronic instrumentation and PC systems.
- Commitment to Occupational Health and Safety principles.
