Legal Debt Recovery Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Legal Debt Recovery Specialist to join our late-stage recovery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for recovering outstanding debts through negotiation, payment arrangements, settlements, and legal proceedings.

The role requires a strong understanding of debt recovery processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include managing high balance late-stage recovery and bad debt portfolios, escalating cases as necessary, and assessing delinquent accounts for potential legal action.

The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years of experience in commercial collections or a related field. In-depth knowledge of ASIC Debt Collection Guidelines, Privacy Act, NCCP Act, and relevant financial regulations is also required.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage high balance late-stage recovery and bad debt portfolios.
  • Escalate cases as necessary for legal action, insolvency, or external debt collection intervention.
  • Assess delinquent accounts for potential legal action.
  • Stay updated on case law, regulatory changes, and industry trends impacting legal debt recovery.
  • Maintain detailed records of all debt recovery activities.
  • Prepare reports on collection rates, settlement success rates, and legal case updates/outcomes.
  • Minimise unnecessary complaints through effective dispute resolution and adherence to compliance frameworks.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial collections or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASIC Debt Collection Guidelines, Privacy Act, NCCP Act, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
