About the Role

The SBS News and Current Affairs division is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team as Indigenous Journalism Cadets. This 12-month program is designed to provide recent graduates with the skills and experience needed to build a career in broadcast and digital journalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to SBS News and Current Affairs programs and website through researching, producing, and reporting.
  • Work as part of a team to develop and deliver high-quality content.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Undertake placements in various bureaus and newsrooms to gain diverse experience.
Requirements
  • Completed tertiary qualifications in Journalism or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international affairs.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Determination, initiative, and curiosity to generate story ideas.
  • Familiarity with SBS's News and Current Affairs programming.
  • Ability to speak a second language and/or have experience of another culture or cultures (highly desirable).
