About the OpportunityThis Family Support Specialist position involves providing tailored support services to vulnerable parents, helping them achieve their education and employment goals. The role requires person-centred case management for eligible parents with young children, addressing complex needs such as mental health issues, housing insecurity, addiction, family violence, and trauma.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement bespoke strategies to empower parents' aspirations
- Refer families to relevant internal and external resources for further support when necessary
- Build strong relationships with local community organisations to create opportunities for growth and development
- Foster a supportive environment through empathetic interactions, building trusted relationships with parents and their families
- Sensitivity and understanding towards parents experiencing adversity, trauma, and financial hardship
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including parents, employers, educators, and community service providers
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong knowledge of the labour market
- A minimum diploma-level qualification in a relevant field such as social work, community services, or education
