About the Opportunity

This role sits within our Workplace Advice and Support Team, advocating for both members' employment rights and entitlements whilst providing advice and representation for their individual employment issues.

You will collaborate with our Principal Legal Officer to provide supervision, leadership and technical guidance to the team. Additionally, you will:

  1. Provide representation and advocacy on behalf of members before industrial tribunals
  2. Work in collaboration with organisers to provide information and advice
  3. Assist with enterprise agreement interpretation and negotiation
  4. Provide mentorship support to junior employees in the team
  5. Potentially act in the principal lawyer role

About You

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in law, who possesses excellent research and technical skills, as well as influential leadership and management expertise.

Key qualifications include:

  • Legal qualifications with eligibility to hold an unrestricted practicing certificate
  • Experience in advocacy, negotiation, mediation, advisory and litigation
  • A commitment to union values
