Mechanical Team Lead

Job Description

The Mechanical Team Lead will oversee and guide a multidisciplinary team to manage daily maintenance tasks, ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.

  • Team Leadership: This hands-on leader will supervise and direct the team to manage daily maintenance tasks, including routine and defect maintenance.
  • Safety Management: The Mechanical Team Lead will identify and address issues and risks to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Technical Guidance and Support: This leader will provide guidance and mentor apprentices and other team members, while collaborating with contractor workers to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • General Maintenance Activities: The Mechanical Team Lead will perform trade-related duties such as preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, and installations to maximise the reliability and availability of the Power Station.
  • Team Development: This role involves mentoring and motivating team members to enhance their performance and professional development.
  • Coordination and Communication: The Mechanical Team Lead will collaborate with teams and contractors to plan maintenance activities in alignment with business needs.
  • Process Improvements: Alongside the team, this leader will assess current maintenance practices and propose strategies to boost efficiency and drive better performance.
Requirements
  • A qualified Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker with an in-depth knowledge of modern power stations or heavy industry.
  • Leadership qualifications to a Certificate level and demonstrated experience in leading a team to successfully meet business needs.
  • A strong understanding of safety practices, maintenance procedures, and environmental regulations, prioritising these in all work being undertaken.
