About the Role

The Financial Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance team and driving business objectives. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position involves overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient delivery of daily and month-end activities, and improving processes and procedures to maintain a risk-controlled environment.

This role requires strong leadership skills to drive improvements, maintain financial control, and support the overall financial strategy of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an operational framework for end-of-month and end-of-financial-year reporting cycles, ensuring a best-in-class finance function and strong fiscal management.
  • Contribute to operational planning, oversight, and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with organisational goals and strategies under the Head of Finance.
  • Support resource planning and ensure the finance function is equipped to meet strategic and operational objectives.
  • Provide expert advice on finance compliance, reporting, and maintaining a strong internal control framework.
  • Ensure robust financial control through reconciliation activities and timely resolution of variances in general ledger account balances.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of the accounts payable function.
  • Lead and direct a high-performing team, fostering a culture of quality work, service delivery, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Promote continuous improvement and manage key risks in the finance function, ensuring favourable outcomes for the organisation.

The Person

We are seeking a highly experienced leader with a tertiary qualification in a relevant field and CA/CPA qualifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial reporting from the Financial Services sector, a solid understanding of technical accounting, and a minimum of five years' leadership experience in a complex, commercial organisation undergoing significant change.

  • Strong knowledge of APRA accounting practices and control frameworks (GS 007).
