Job Opportunity: Psychosocial Support Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PSS Counsellor to join our team in Izmir or Mersin. As a PSS Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing psychosocial support, counselling, and organizing support activities to individuals, groups, and communities in need.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial support through individual and group counselling sessions, as well as organize support activities to enhance the well-being of beneficiaries.
  • Strengthen referral pathways between actors in the community and connect PSS with MHPSS service providers to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Ensure quality standards by implementing project activities that meet objectives and outcomes, and reporting regularly on progress.
  • Document sessions accurately to comply with donor audit requirements, and coordinate with stakeholders to reduce risk factors.
  • Participate in meetings and report any security-related issues to the line manager, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.

About You

  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and have at least 2 years' experience working on humanitarian aid programs, including work with refugee populations.
  • You possess strong planning and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is required, along with solid computer skills, especially in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with management experience being beneficial.

Working Environment

The PSS Counsellor will be based in Izmir or Mersin, working closely with technical staff, the Psychologist, and other stakeholders. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
