Main Objective:

The Global Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for:

• Steering the Bitumen Operations Excellence Initiative on a worldwide scale through the establishment of operational protocols, quality assurance, enhancement of equipment dependability, ongoing innovation, cost efficiency, training, assessment, and continuous process enhancement.

Compliance with Quality Management System

Uphold and support the Quality Management System in all facets of your role. Embrace and implement the principles of continuous improvement in all aspects of your responsibilities. Promote awareness of customer requirements (both internal and external) throughout the organization. Evaluate, monitor, and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the quality management system. Engage, support, and continually enhance communication processes that bolster the quality management system and yield positive outcomes for the business, customers, and key stakeholders.

Key Relationships and Department Overview:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Operations Excellence

Direct the Bitumen Operations Excellence initiative, in accordance with Puma Energy's Operational Excellence protocols;

Maintain, standardize, and document Bitumen operational standards and procedures. Design and implement training programs for employees at all levels on operational excellence principles and techniques to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement. Develop and uphold an auditing program for compliance with standards and practices, including training team members.

Improvement Initiatives

Collaborate with stakeholders to propose innovative solutions to address challenges in order to enhance business efficiency and effectiveness. Work with all departments to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction.

Documentation and Business Tools

Oversee the documentation and updating of processes and procedures to reflect current best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain standard tools utilized by operations to achieve consistency, efficiency, and minimize errors.

Key Performance Indicators

Establish and monitor key performance indicators to track progress and impact of operational excellence initiatives.

Operational Competency

Maintain a high level of proficiency in operational duties performed at terminals, completed by supervisors and frontline personnel. Provide backfill for strategic roles when necessary.

Training

Develop, maintain, and deliver training and assessment programs for operational duties, including train-the-trainer programs to enable other employees to conduct informal on-the-job training and assessment.

Business Support:

Any other relevant tasks as directed by your Manager.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications that best support this role include tertiary education in an Engineering-related discipline or relevant Trade Certification.

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

Over 5 years of experience in frontline industrial operations, with a preference for Bitumen experience. Strong business acumen. The ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate effectively with others. Effective communication skills. Knowledge of relevant industry safety, engineering standards, and trade practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly concerning processing equipment. Experience in continuous improvement methodologies. Strong customer focus and self-motivated to identify and implement operational enhancements. Proficient computer skills using Office Suite. Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally.
