Job Title: Payroll Specialist

About the Role:

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for providing exceptional customer experience to payroll customers by delivering timely and accurate fortnightly and monthly payroll. This role will provide ongoing support to the Senior Payroll Specialist to ensure all facets of the payroll function are delivered by managing customer queries, maintaining accurate employee data and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process end-to-end fortnightly and monthly pay runs with support from Senior Payroll Specialist
  • Ensure fortnightly and monthly pay runs are as accurate as possible before being checked by the Senior Payroll Specialist and/or the Payroll Manager by performing self-checks via audit reports and payroll reports
  • Calculate and process ad-hoc payments, terminations, bonuses/commissions, and other additions/deductions
  • Calculate and process manual adjustments for back payments, including salary changes, higher duties, secondments, and other changes to employee payroll records
  • Have an understanding of STP reporting
  • Assist and train employees and managers on ESS Timecard queries, being the first point of contact and escalating to Senior Payroll Specialist where necessary
  • Respond to payroll queries and ad-hoc payroll requests from internal and external customers
  • EOM HR reporting, including New Starters, terminated employees, total headcount, and annual leave balances
  • Assist Senior Payroll Specialist with financial and legislative reporting, such as Superannuation, Payroll Tax, payroll/costing reconciliations

Requirements:

  • Micro pay experience is essential
  • Connx is desirable
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Professional suite, with Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience in data analytics using Pivot tables, V-Lookups, and Sum
  • Previous experience using large payroll systems
  • Accurate data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team
  • Payroll-related qualifications/certificates are desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience with processing pay runs for 500+ employees is minimum
  • Discretion and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Shows initiative and has a go-getter attitude
