Disability Support Worker Job Description

Care and support individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities.

We are seeking an experienced disability support worker to provide care and support to vulnerable members of our community. This role involves working closely with clients to develop tailored plans that promote their independence, well-being, and quality of life.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living tasks such as washing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to help clients achieve their goals, such as education, employment, or social skills training.
  • Assist clients in accessing community services and resources, such as healthcare, transportation, and recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on client progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing adjustments as needed.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Tertiary Qualifications: In disability or community services, such as a Certificate IV in Disability or a Diploma in Community Services.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 months of experience in a similar role, providing care and support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Personal Qualities: Compassion, empathy, patience, and resilience when working with clients who may present challenging behaviors.
