Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant will support the Finance Team in Melbourne, Australia. This role is responsible for providing ad-hoc assistance to the Manager, Financial Accounting, including month-end processes, transactional accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and assisting in the completion of timely and accurate internal and external reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Month End close process, ensuring an accurate General Ledger and Asset Register.
  • Review and analyze results, including KPIs, balance Sheet and reconciliations.
  • Maintain General Ledger and Asset Register.
  • Manage transactional accounting, supervise and mentor AP and AR accounts officers.
  • Provide professional guidance and mentoring to junior staff within the wider finance team.
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts, internal and external financial performance reports for accountability and control purposes.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and other external reporting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting.
  • Qualified CPA or CA member.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience as a Senior Financial Accountant with the capacity to work autonomously and as a member of a team to deliver outcomes and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a small team.
  • Experience in audit processes and compliance reporting in the public sector will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency and extensive experience in using accounting system and software packages.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
