Job Opportunity: Lead Financial Accountant

This position presents an excellent chance for a skilled finance professional to take on a leadership role in our organisation's accounting function.

  • About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the quality of financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate completion of internal and external reports, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

This involves leading a team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported, and that financial statements are prepared and presented in accordance with applicable standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, excellent leadership and management skills, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
  • Oversee the preparation of annual statutory accounts and other external reports
  • Lead the financial accounting team, ensuring deliverables are met and the team operates efficiently
  • Manage and monitor cash flow, and review reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts
  • Conduct variance analysis and commentary for management reports
  • Prepare and submit BAS and FBT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and deadlines

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting (CPA or CA member)
  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Proficiency in using accounting software packages, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
