Job Title: Extension Officer P03 - Mareeba

Achieve Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Extension Officer to join our team in Mareeba. As part of this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for working with northern beef producers to achieve the goals of the Federal and Queensland Government funded Grazing Futures Livestock Business Resilience (GFLBR) project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement business planning and support for northern beef producers to enhance their resilience in livestock business.
  • Assist the northern GFLBR coordinator in impact reporting and promotional activities to lift the profile of the GFLBR program.
  • Attend industry forums and collaborate with industry partners to promote the GFLBR program.
  • Support DAF Beef Extension Mareeba staff with general extension work in the north region.
  • Collaborate with the North Queensland Pasture Resilience Project and Reef Extension team on general extension work in the north region.
  • Contribute to the FutureBeef website and other communications material with the Northern Beef and Feedbase team.
Essential Requirements:
  • Australian bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Animal, Agricultural or Environmental Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Current 'C' class drivers' licence.
  • Experience and understanding of the beef industry in Queensland and/or northern Australia.
  • Qualification assessment for international qualifications to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
  • Commitment to obtaining vaccination or provision of evidence of prior immunity to Q-Fever prior to commencement.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Post-graduate qualification in a science and extension field.
  • Experience in engaging with land managers to form successful relationships.
