Agricultural Development Officer

Achieve Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agricultural Development Officer to join our team. As an Extension Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of the beef industry in Queensland and northern Australia.
Key Responsibilities- Project Coordination: Work with northern beef producers to achieve the goals of the Grazing Futures Livestock Business Resilience (GFLBR) project, focusing on business planning, natural resource management, and human resources.
- Support and Collaboration: Assist the northern GFLBR coordinator in impact reporting, promotional activities, and event attendance, while contributing to the development of the GF LBR program.
- Industry Engagement: Attend industry forums, collaborate with industry partners, and participate in events to promote the GF LBR program and enhance its profile.
- Extension Services: Assist DAF Beef Extension Mareeba staff with general extension work in the north region, including collaborating with the North Queensland Pasture Resilience Project and Reef Extension team.
- Communication and Reporting: Contribute to the FutureBeef website and other communications materials, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project progress and outcomes.
- Qualifications: Possess an Australian bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Animal, Agricultural, or Environmental Science from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Drivers' Licence: Hold a current 'C' class drivers' licence.
- Industry Experience: Have experience and an understanding of the beef industry in Queensland and/or northern Australia.
- Travel and Vaccination: Be willing to travel for extended periods across Queensland's regions and commit to obtaining vaccination or providing evidence of prior immunity to Q-Fever.
- Post-graduate Qualification: Hold a post-graduate qualification in a science and extension field.
- Engagement and Relationship Building: Have experience in engaging with land managers to form successful relationships.
This is a flexible, Monday-to-Friday position with 72.5 hours per fortnight. You will need to be able to pass a current police check should you be successful in this role.
