Job Overview

The Clinical Director role is a strategic leadership position that requires a seasoned clinical expert to provide direction and oversight for clinical governance systems, ensuring they are future-focused and reform-ready.

This governance, non-operational position involves strengthening Board-level oversight of clinical risk, safety, and quality outcomes, as well as providing guidance on care model redesign, integrated care pathways, and workforce capability.

A strong background in gerontology, palliative care, or ageing-focused health leadership is highly regarded. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Health Practitioner status with current AHPRA registration
  • Postgraduate qualification in Health Management, Governance, Risk, Gerontology, or Public Health
  • Completion of AICD Company Directors Course or willingness to undertake
  • 10–15+ years in senior clinical, executive, or Board-level roles

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Director will be responsible for influencing complex organisations and high-stakes decision-making, designing or embedding enterprise-wide clinical governance systems, and overseeing clinical risk portfolios, performance systems, and consumer feedback channels.
