Ecology Team Leader Position

We are seeking a skilled ecology professional to lead our team and contribute to groundbreaking projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for ecology and conservation.

The role offers flexibility in location between Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast, as well as full-time or part-time arrangements. As a recognised technical expert, you'll balance team leadership with project delivery (approx. 60%). You'll provide high-quality ecological advice across all stages of infrastructure and natural resource projects; from early constraints and biodiversity surveys to impact assessments, offsets, and management plans.

You'll also support and mentor your team, collaborating with Director-level consultants, and encourage innovative thinking to drive strong conservation outcomes.

In return, you'll be part of a national network of ecologists and specialists, working on diverse projects across renewables, infrastructure, mining, and conservation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct biodiversity impact assessments, environmental offsets, and mine rehabilitation
  • Develop re-vegetation and vegetation management plans
  • Field verification and GIS mapping of vegetation communities / regional ecosystems and managing spatial datasets
  • Knowledge of Queensland regional ecosystem framework and Commonwealth environmental offset policies and associated guidelines
  • Technical writing and ability to interpret legislation and policy
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of consulting experience in the field of ecology, along with:

  • Significant field experience in rehabilitation monitoring, protected plants and marine plant surveys, threatened ecological community verification, ecological data collection and analysis, managing field teams, etc.
  • Leadership experience is important, along with strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a positive approach to team engagement
