Ecology Team Leader Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ecology team leader to head up our Queensland ecology practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing ecological projects, providing expert advice on biodiversity impact assessments, environmental offsets, mine rehabilitation, and vegetation management plans.

  • Biodiversity Impact Assessment: You will develop and implement strategies to minimize the impact of infrastructure and natural resource projects on local ecosystems.
  • Environmental Offsets: You will work with clients to identify and implement effective offsetting strategies to mitigate the environmental impacts of their projects.
  • Mine Rehabilitation: You will oversee the rehabilitation of mining sites, ensuring that they are restored to a safe and healthy state for both humans and wildlife.
  • Vegetation Management: You will develop and implement vegetation management plans to protect and conserve regional ecosystems.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of consulting experience in ecology and conservation.
  • Leadership experience (whether established or emerging).
  • Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a positive approach to team engagement.
  • A track record of building or leading high-performing teams.
  • Significant field experience in rehabilitation monitoring, protected plants and marine plant surveys, threatened ecological community verification, ecological data collection and analysis, managing field teams etc.
