Senior Researcher and Educator

The Curtin University School of Earth and Planetary Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Senior Researcher and Educator to lead our research program in geomicrobiology. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the Director of the Western Australia Organic and Isotope Geochemistry Centre (WA-OIGC) and other researchers to advance our understanding of microbiology and its applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research projects in geomicrobiology and genomics of sediments and lakes
  • Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Earth Sciences and geomicrobiology
  • Contribute to teaching and learning initiatives across the university
  • Collaborate with industry partners and government organizations on research projects
  • Represent the university at national and international conferences

Essential Qualifications:

  • Doctoral qualification in microbiology/geobiology and sedimentary inorganic geochemistry
  • Proven record of supervising PhD and undergraduate students
  • Established record of research outputs in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience working with industry partners and government organizations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
