Job Description

Thornton Engineering Australia Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer of high-quality steel products, specializing in the design and fabrication of complex projects for various industries in Australia.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Planner to join our team, responsible for creating realistic schedules from the estimating stage to ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Estimate Schedule Creation: Produce detailed estimate schedules, comparing with estimators' budget, and ensuring alignment before submitting tenders.
  2. Schedule Activation: Activate the schedule once the contract is awarded and ensure it is in line with the build sequence.
  3. Resource Loading: Load all schedules as per actual available resources to determine capacity and realistic deliveries, to be applied at the tender stage as well.
  4. Progress Tracking: Ensure progress of projects is kept up to date and actuals are captured.
  5. Liaison and Communication: Liaise on a continuous basis with Production Supervisor, Project Managers, Production Manager, and Pre-Production Staff regarding required dates for relevant items.
  6. Client Updates: Supply updates to Clients or Project Managers.
  7. Material Expedite: Expedite materials as per the schedule requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Primavera P6 Experience: Beneficial to have proof of courses taken on the use of Primavera P6.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience:

  1. Production Planning Experience: Must have at least 3 years of full-time experience as a production planner in an engineering manufacturing environment (preferably Pressure Vessel/Heat exchangers) using Primavera P6.
  2. Primavera P6 Fundamentals: Must have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of Primavera P6 (Load resources, Level Resources, Create Histograms, build-in 'What ifs', etc.).
  3. Task Calculation: Beneficial to have a good understanding of calculating actual times for tasks (time to weld a 50NB Nozzle to shell, etc.).
