Policy Officer Role

We are seeking a skilled Policy Officer based in Melbourne to join our team.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time 38 hour week position with a 9-month contract, and possible extension.
  • You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive government department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting high-quality briefings, correspondence, and parliamentary questions that meet our standards.
  • Analysing Cabinet Submissions, reviews, and initiatives to determine infrastructure implications, using strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Promoting strong relationships within the VSBA and across the Department, demonstrating attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinating and drafting briefings for the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC), utilising exceptional writing and editing skills for diverse audiences.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to reason through complex problems.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with experience working with Ministerial correspondence and briefings an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
