Job Overview

The Commercial Investments Division (CID) supports delivery and oversight of diverse relationships and commercial investments on behalf of the Australian Government.

CID consists of five branches, each with its own unique focus:

  • Communication and Energy Investments
  • Commercial Policy and Advice
  • Defence Investments
  • Specialist Investment Vehicles, Funds and Governance
  • Transport Investments

CID provides oversight of government-owned businesses and investment vehicles to ensure accountability and transparency is maintained while delivering value for money.

About the Role

This role involves working as a junior policy analyst in one of our GBE teams, responsible for leading a small team to represent the Minister for Finance's interests. The key objectives include delivering high-quality outcomes consistent with government policy, supporting infrastructure projects, regulatory compliance, and national security priorities.

You will provide guidance associated with the Commonwealth's Investment Framework, strengthening the long-term financial position and delivering on critical government funding policy objectives.

Additionally, this role will involve working closely to develop and implement major government policy priorities, such as renewable energy initiatives and scoping studies and reviews.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking motivated individuals at APS Level 3 and APS Level 4 with strong public policy, commercial, financial, legal, and program management skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and communication skills, be able to work effectively in diverse teams, and possess initiative and flexibility to respond to changing organisational needs and priorities.

The successful candidate will have a mix of skills and expertise, including policy development, project management, and stakeholder engagement. A strong understanding of government policies and procedures is also essential.
