Public Art Project Officer Opportunity

The council is seeking a proactive and community-minded professional to join the arts, culture, and place team. This project-based role focuses on delivering two murals in Flemington and Moonee Ponds through collaboration with artists and local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate public art mural projects from planning to delivery.
  • Collaborate with artists, curators, and local organisations for smooth delivery.
  • Develop strong relationships with community stakeholders to reflect local identity in public artworks.
  • Facilitate community consultation and engagement for public art that reflects local identity and values.
  • Support community engagement and promotion of mural projects.
  • Contribute to municipal-wide mural site selection process development, including criteria and stakeholder mapping.
  • Maintain and document artworks properly.
  • Assist with contract administration, risk assessment, and compliance with policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will bring creative and administrative skills with tertiary qualifications in public art, arts administration, community development, or visual arts. You'll have demonstrated experience in delivering public art or community arts projects and a solid understanding of project management, including coordinating with artists and managing budgets and timelines.
