Our client, a prominent global financial institution, is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller for a 6-month engagement. This role is critical to the management of legal entity reporting and compliance.

The team is responsible for comprehensive oversight of Legal Entity reporting, which encompasses statutory financial statements, regulatory compliance, internal reporting to management and boards, as well as adherence to local GAAP accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Legal Entities: Act as the primary Finance contact for assigned legal entities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide insightful financial analysis for the legal entities under your purview.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate results and issues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Audit Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Ensure the timely production of regulatory reports in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Tax Support: Assist with GST and Income Tax obligations.

Statutory Financials:

  • Contribute significantly to the annual financial statements process for designated entities.
  • Collaborate with offshore teams to review and enhance the quality of financial outputs.
  • Participate in centralized audit processes, including necessary confirmations.

Reporting & Tax Responsibilities:

  • Engage in monthly reporting processes, working closely with the country controller to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review variances to provide meaningful insights into financial performance.
  • Approve month-end journal entries as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly board pack reports.
  • Generate reporting analysis for various stakeholders, including management and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor liquidity levels and provide relevant reporting.

Governance:

  • Maintain comprehensive process documentation.
  • Oversee payment processes and accounts payable activities.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (CPA/CA).
  • Experience in financial services or banking accounting.
  • Proficient in producing regulatory reports.
  • Knowledge of GST, FBT, and Income Tax is desirable.
  • Familiarity with general ledgers is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated motivation, adaptability, and proactivity.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying key messages effectively.
  • Able to collaborate across finance and broader organizational functions.
  • Experience working within complex global organizations.
