Job Description

Our organisation seeks an experienced Portfolio Strategist to conduct in-depth research and analysis, leveraging quantitative models to support investment decisions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining quantitative models for forecasting portfolio performance and identifying opportunities and weaknesses.
  • Contribution to frameworks for monitoring overall portfolio construction and equity managers for performance and process anomalies.
  • Market trend monitoring, economic indicator evaluation, and industry development analysis as they relate to portfolio positioning.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop investment strategies and recommendations using quantitative modelling.
  • Utilisation of advanced statistical techniques and software tools (FactSet and eVestment) and risk systems (Axioma) to analyse large datasets and derive actionable insights.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess direct equity investment experience, including multi-manager equity portfolio construction, quantitative portfolio modelling, researching, and forecasting. A working knowledge of regulatory requirements is also essential.

  • Direct equity investment experience.
  • Multi-manager equity portfolio construction experience.
  • Quantitative portfolio modelling, researching, and forecasting skills, including position sizing, trading, concentration controls, hit rates, rebalancing decisions, quality of data sources, weighting decisions, turnover considerations, trading signals/refinements & style drift.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations, including APRA regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of ESG factors in the investment process.
  • Experience in undertaking research projects involving financial/trading and/or economic data.
