Job Opportunity

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions seeks a skilled professional to join our team as a Plant Diseases Project Officer.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position offering exciting opportunities for biodiversity conservation and park management.

As a key member of the Plant Diseases Program, you will contribute to:

  • Developing strategic approaches to managing environmental plant pests and diseases.
  • Preparing and delivering correspondence, reports, briefings, training, management and communications plans for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data to inform advice, support and recommendations.
  • Developing projects, policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Increasing understanding of plant pest and disease threats and their management.

To be successful in this role, applicants should possess:

  • A strong background in the management of plant pests and diseases for biodiversity conservation outcomes or equivalent experience in an allied field.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills and experience effectively liaising and negotiating with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including report writing using word processing and presenting results using PowerPoint software.
  • Ability to undertake project work with limited direction and strong project management skills.
