About the Role

As a Firefighter - Community Safety Specialist with NSW Government, you will play a vital role in protecting people, property, and the environment in your local community. You will work from your local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and be responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties, including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies, and collaborating with other emergency services.

You will be paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, and community safety and education activities. To be successful in this role, you must be team-oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable, and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake community fire safety work, including education and awareness programs
  • Attend fires and other emergencies, including motor vehicle accidents and chemical hazards
  • Collaborate with other emergency services, including NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service, and NSW Police
  • Participate in training sessions and community safety and education activities

Requirements:

  • Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
  • Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
  • Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station

Training and Development:

Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers all aspects of firefighting and rescue, including basic life support, rope work, power tool use, and community engagement skills.

Selection Process:

The selection process will involve a number of assessments, including an interview, physical aptitude test, and pre-employment health assessment.
