At the Australian Energy Regulator, we are seeking a highly skilled Executive Director to lead our Default Market Offer and Consumers team.
About the RoleThis is an ongoing EL2 appointment that offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of energy policy and regulation in Australia. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality outcomes that benefit energy consumers.
The organisation is committed to creating a workplace culture that supports autonomy and collaboration. This role may be performed from any of our offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, or Sydney and can be worked on a full-time, part-time, or job-share basis.

Main Responsibilities- Oversight of the team's delivery of the Default Market Offer each year, as well as advancement of policy and regulatory initiatives that support energy consumers.
- Expert advice to the leadership and Senior Executive Team on retail pricing, policy, and regulation.
- Representation of the organisation and DMO/Consumers Branch to influence internal and external stakeholders on objectives.
- Ensure high-quality documentation, reporting, and communication with the leadership, CEO, and Board on relevant projects and activities.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast-paced, large, complex, people-centred organisation.
- Substantial knowledge and experience across policy and regulatory change, stakeholder engagement, and data interpretation/management.
- Expert knowledge of Australian energy markets and the regulatory environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
