Job Description

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This involves ensuring federal, state, and local tax regulations are met, preparing and reconciling tax filings, leading payroll tax audits, and providing guidance to the payroll tax team.

A strong background in payroll tax, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities are essential for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of payroll tax compliance, including review and reconciliation of federal, state, and local tax filings.
  • Establishment and maintenance of tax agency accounts and SUI rates across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Employee tax setup and changes due to state moves or office address updates.
  • Reconciliation of payroll tax reports after each payroll run.
  • Timely submission of weekly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings.
  • Leadership of responses to federal, state, and local payroll tax inquiries, audits, and correspondence.
  • Development of internal controls, processes, and policies related to payroll taxes.
  • Preparation of payroll records related to terminations.
  • Leadership and technical support to the payroll tax team on daily tasks and project initiatives.
  • Monitoring of updates from tax authorities and system updates.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams.
Qualifications
  • Not less than 4 years of experience in multi-state payroll and tax compliance.
  • Experience with ADP Smart Compliance is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading a team.
