A highly motivated and skilled professional is sought for the role of Technical Security Capability Development Manager in the Australian Government Department of Defence's Technical Surveillance Countermeasures team.
The successful candidate will lead a small multi-role technical team responsible for researching and developing solutions that underpin Defence's technical security capability.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Designing and implementing technical solutions to advance Defence's capability.
- Integrating new technologies and methodologies.
- Providing comprehensive technical evaluation and analysis of equipment and technologies.
- Managing research and development initiatives focused on emerging technical threats to Defence.
- Providing advice on complex technical security matters to key stakeholders.
- Leading integration testing and evaluation of systems and subsystem components using industry standard test equipment.

About Our Team
The Technical Security Capability Development team is a dynamic and highly skilled unit dedicated to advancing Defence's technical security capability. Comprising technicians and engineers, this team provides overarching support to technical security operations, serving as a security protection layer against technical surveillance threats to Defence.
The team safeguards sensitive information by applying engineering principles and methodologies to complex technical matters, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative approaches for delivering new capability and enhancing existing capabilities.
Our Ideal Candidate
We seek a critical thinker with a comprehensive understanding of Defence's operating environment and a demonstrated interest in emerging technologies within a security context.
The ideal candidate will have an Engineering Degree in Electronics or Radio Frequency technologies and experience managing teams, leading projects, teaching groups, and presenting to customers with varying technical experience.
The successful candidate will also manage a technical workshop with various tools and processes, making exposure to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, regulations, and policy an advantage.
Prior knowledge of or experience in managing budgets and/or Defence's procurement processes would also be beneficial.
Further skills that would be looked upon favourably include prior use and knowledge of radiation equipment and safety regulations, electrical work and safety, and previous TSCM experience.
Salary Range
$130,000 - $170,000 per annum, depending on experience.
