Hydro Tasmania is Australia's leading clean energy business with over 50 major dams and 30 operating hydro power stations across regional Tasmania.

About the Role

This key leadership position will offer you the opportunity to contribute to the Board of Hydro Tasmania and navigate the complex National Electricity Market landscape.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader in the energy sector with impeccable professional integrity and a sound understanding of National Electricity Market (NEM) dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Board on matters related to energy trading, retailing, power system operations or major asset project development, operations and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure commercial excellence and balance with public interest obligations.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders, including government, regulatory bodies, industry partners and the community, to promote the interests of Hydro Tasmania.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated senior experience in energy trading, retailing, power system operations or major asset project development, operations and maintenance, with a sound understanding of NEM dynamics.
  • Proven track record in senior executive or board roles in utilities, energy, infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Strong commercial and financial management experience.
  • Governance excellence and high standard of integrity.
  • Risk management skills and experience.
What We Offer

This appointment will be as a non-executive director for an initial term of 3 years with appointment by the Governor-in-Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Energy and Renewables and the Treasurer.
