The Aboriginal Cultural Mentor plays a vital role in supporting the cultural connection of Indigenous young people in our care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct assistance to staff, children and families to enhance their understanding of Aboriginal culture.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with families, children and staff to develop a culturally relevant plan that meets individual needs.
- Mentor children and young people to connect with their family, culture and community.
- Assess the needs of families and children for flexible support services, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
- Promote an understanding of Aboriginal culture and its impact on social and emotional development and well-being.
- Working with Children Check (paid employment).
- First Aid Certificate.
- National Police Check.
- Driver's licence and vehicle insurance.
- Knowledge of youth work practices and Microsoft Office skills.
