Our organization recognizes the significance of cultural awareness and respect for indigenous heritage. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, paying tribute to their knowledge and traditions.
We operate mental health facilities on Awabakal, Worimi, and Wonnarua Country. We recognize the diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within our region and support the staff working with them. Our team is dedicated to enhancing mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, adolescents, and families across our service area.
This position will work across Awabakal and Wonnarua lands, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals. You will be supported culturally and professionally by a large Aboriginal mental health workforce. Daily clinical and wellbeing huddles, monthly networking meetings, child and adolescent training development, and regular routine clinical multidisciplinary team reviews are just some of the resources available to you.
This is an opportunity to join a team committed to facilitating local community access to mental health services. As a Mental Health Specialist Leader, you will provide high-quality, culturally appropriate mental health assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation services for children/young people and their families using best practice principles associated with collaborative partnerships.
About you: You will have the ability to work in collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Leadership Team and our organization's Leadership Team. You will be passionate about improving mental health and sustaining the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children/young people and their parents/carers/family and their communities.
You will enjoy working in a community setting to provide culturally appropriate support, advocacy, and consultation for individuals accessing our services. You will create a culturally safe and supportive environment within the team and model self-care. You will provide cultural knowledge and advice to non-Aboriginal colleagues and stakeholders about local cultural protocols and the importance of respecting traditional practices.
- Collaborate effectively with the CAMHS Leadership Team and our organization's Leadership Team.
- Promote mental health and wellbeing among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, adolescents, and families.
- Work in a community setting to deliver culturally appropriate support and advocacy services.
