Job Summary

The Structural Asset Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the ongoing integrity, safety, and compliance of all structural assets across the mining operation.

This position provides technical leadership in structural inspections, defect management, engineering assessments, design review, and lifecycle planning to support operational continuity, compliance, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough structural inspections and assessments of critical assets, including conveyors, platforms, tanks, trestles, and load-bearing structures.
  • Maintain and update structural defect registers and risk-based inspection schedules to ensure optimal asset utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and manage the Structural Integrity Management Plan (SIMP) to guarantee regulatory compliance and adherence to industry standards.
  • Provide expert technical review and validation of structural designs, scopes, and calculations for projects and maintenance activities to ensure accuracy and efficacy.
  • Support capital projects and brownfield modifications through engineering input and verification to guarantee seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Liaise with third-party contractors and oversee structural remediation or fabrication works to ensure compliance, quality, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, inspection findings, and recommendations for defect rectification or risk mitigation to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Projects, and Reliability teams to align structural priorities with operational needs and optimize resource allocation.
  • Assist in lifecycle planning and asset management strategies for structural components to maximize their lifespan and reduce costs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (with structural focus).
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership highly desirable.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Western Australia (RPEng/NER preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, analysis, and design.
  • Proficiency in structural modelling and engineering software e.g., SpaceGass, Strand7, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant Australian Standards AS 4100, AS 3990, AS/NZS 1170, AS 1657, AS/NZS 5131.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
