Job Description

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing new methodologies applied to critical mineral research with a focus on REE and Li. Your primary responsibility will be to identify efficient tracers of fluid-mineral processes or geochronometers relevant to the systems of interest and develop new methodologies with a focus on LG-SIMS.

You will work closely with academic and professional staff, researchers and industry partners, as well as contribute to supervision of PhD students. This is a full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 2 years.

Key objectives include:

  • Elaborate new methodologies applied to critical mineral research with a focus on REE and Li
  • Identify efficient tracers of fluid-mineral processes or geochronometers relevant to the systems of interest and develop new methodologies with a focus on LG-SIMS

This role requires a strong background in isotope geochemistry (stable isotopes and geochronology) with correlative approach involving mineral and rock characterisation. A high level of competency in techniques for rock and mineral characterisation such as LIBS, electron beam or RAMAN is also required. Experience in using mass spectrometry (preferably LG-SIMS instruments), to conduct research, and in developing novel analytical techniques are essential.
