The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Accelerator Controls team as a Web Developer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining web-based tools to support the control and monitoring of our particle accelerators.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop web-based tools to support the control and monitoring of our particle accelerators
- Work with our team to identify and prioritize project requirements and deliverables
- Collaborate with other developers to ensure seamless integration of web-based tools with existing systems
- Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure web applications
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our development processes
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Are required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025
- A software development or computing discipline
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience programming in an object-oriented language such as JavaScript
- Ability to work with other developers in a team
- Ability to adapt based on feedback from other developers and users
- Evidence of interest in web technologies and development frameworks, e.g. React
- Experience with version control, e.g. git, and software development best practice
