About The Role

The Principal Executive Officer is a critical role that provides strategic support and advice to the Chief Executive and the Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality executive services, including:

  • Providing strategic advice and guidance to the Chief Executive and senior leaders
  • Coordinating and delivering executive services, including correspondence, reports, and presentations
  • Maintaining key relationships and networks with stakeholders, including Ministerial Offices, Cabinet Office, and other government agencies
  • Identifying and contributing to the improvement of business processes and capabilities to support the Department's objectives
Key Competencies

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the public sector, including structures and decision-making processes
  • Significant experience in coordinating and delivering executive services, including confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to analyze complex departmental and business challenges, and make critical decisions to resolve these

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation
  • Significant experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of the public sector and executive services
Special Conditions

The role will be offered on a full-time basis, with an initial 24-month term contract. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment.
