Job Title: Hydro Operations Leader

Job Overview

This role involves leading a team of operators to maintain and optimize hydro assets across the region.

The successful candidate will contribute to powering Australian lives in a culture that values inclusivity, respect, and learning, and help create a cleaner energy future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the safe and efficient delivery of operator activities across AGL's Hydro portfolio.
  • Lead and develop the operator workforce and perform administrative functions and projects.
  • Manage professional development and career progression for the operator team, while identifying business resource needs.
  • Support the operator team's use of Hydro's Permit to Work (PTW) System.
  • Manage daily activities and project works in accordance with OPEX & CAPEX.
  • Lead the provision of safe access to plant for all planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain the operator on-call availability roster.
Requirements:
  • Experience operating within a power station or heavy industrial environment is essential.
  • Experience in the energy sector, focused on the operation of hydro or gas power stations and related electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Exposure to CMMS and electronic permit to work programs.
  • Ability to provide leadership to multiple teams across remote sites.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to implement both long and short-term work programs.
  • Understanding of relevant HSE legislation.
About the Role:

As Hydro Operations Leader, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing hydro assets across the region. You will lead a team of operators and be responsible for managing their development and career progression.

You will also be responsible for supporting the operator team's use of Hydro's Permit to Work (PTW) System and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of operator activities.
