
After Hours Crisis Accommodation Support Worker Position

About This Role
This position involves providing crisis accommodation support services to individuals and families outside of regular business hours. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients, while promoting awareness of their rights and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing and processing client referrals, including after-hours intake, using sound assessment and intervention strategies within a crisis framework.
- Delivering support aligned with Case Management Plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients and their children, while promoting awareness of clients' rights, HASS standards, and relevant legislation.
- Maintaining strong knowledge of internal and external resources and services, and participating in after-hours duties such as meal programs.
- Communicating effectively with staff by starting shifts on time, sharing relevant updates, and ensuring accurate and timely client records in systems like SAMIS and the Continuity log.
- Following consistent service delivery and administrative procedures, including regular updates on policy changes and accurate maintenance of digital records.
- Performing domestic duties to ensure cleanliness and safety of client accommodations and communal areas within designated timeframes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with persons experiencing homelessness and displaying highly challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge of the service systems, particularly youth, housing, and homelessness, Child Protection, AOD, Family Services, and Mental Health.
- Demonstrated skills in engaging homeless persons and willingness to assist in the provision of support in areas such as domestic violence, drug & alcohol, mental health, living skills, and parenting.
- A Level 2 First Aid Certificate - required (training can be provided).
- An understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
