The Science Development team is responsible for developing and evaluating science policy, administering legislation, and advising on key aspects of Queensland's scientific infrastructure and capability. This position plays a pivotal part in supporting the team by managing science projects and policy initiatives, providing advice to senior management and external clients on legislation, regulation, policy, and projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis to interpret complex science-related issues, communicating findings and options to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Initiate and prepare well-researched reports, briefings, submissions, and correspondence on complex science-related matters, developing networks and relationships with stakeholders, government agencies, research organisations, industry, and business.
  • Provide high-level research, advice, and organisational support, contributing to planning by inputting into work plans and advising on priorities and strategies.
  • Manage projects and policy initiatives effectively, ensuring that goals are achieved within set timelines.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations peoples, actively engaging through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders is crucial in achieving the objectives of this role. This includes collaborating with various government agencies, research organisations, industry, and business to drive innovation and growth in Queensland's scientific capabilities.
