About the Role:
Mexec is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the activities of a cross-functional team in the development of intricate mechanical components for our microscopic imaging solutions. As a key technical role, this position will involve full design cycles, including interfaces for electrical, electronics, and optical subsystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop opto-electro-mechanical parts, including full design cycles and interfaces for electrical, electronics, and optical subsystems.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to source parts and services.
- Conduct R&D by building, modifying, and testing prototype parts.
- Inspect, assemble, and test components and systems.
- Assist in managing internal and external projects relating to R&D and manufacturing.
- Support the in-house manufacturing team with day-to-day activities and ongoing projects.
- Maintain detailed, accurate technical documentation of all design and assembly processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and registration as an engineer in Victoria, or equivalent.
- At least 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and project management.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD modeling software, FEA/FEM, and simulations.
- Knowledge of CAD, CAM, and precision fabrication methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with optics, electro-mechanical systems, mechatronics, will be advantageous.
- Prior experience in medical device development, or experience in working in an ISO13485, ISO9001 or similar regulated industry is desirable.
