Defence Environmental Specialist

You are invited to join our team as an Assistant Director Training Area Sustainability, providing strategic support and guidance on environmental legislation, regulation and policy, and help ensure environmental sustainability requirements are incorporated into the management, use, and development of Defence training areas.
As a key member of the Directorate of Operations and Training Area Management (DOTAM), you will be responsible for:
- Assessing, evaluating, and helping develop input into environmental management controls, procedures, policies, reports and plans to ensure compliance with legislation and policy, and contribute to the ongoing improvement to environmental aspects of training area management.
- Leading on and coordinating DOTAM input into environmental and estate management policy and procedures, including negotiations and resolution of complex and sensitive issues that impact upon training area management, use, environmental protection, and capability.
- Translating legislation and policy into the framework of environmental management controls for Defence training areas, and embedding these into training area management and use procedures, such as Standing Orders.
- Providing strong leadership to a team and by providing clear and consistent communication, the setting of clear performance standards, delegation of responsibility, managing performance respectfully, and by investing in people.
