Canberra, ACT, Australia The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference Full time
About Us

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference is a permanent collegial assembly of the Bishops of Australia, serving the Catholic Church in the country. The General Secretariat exists to support the work of the Bishops Conference, which meets twice a year but operates as a permanent institution between plenary meetings through the Permanent Committee and bishops commissions.

The Mission and Values of the Catholic Church of Australia emphasize that work is for people, not people for work. Our Vision is that through work, individuals contribute to the common good and achieve fulfillment as human beings. The Church teaches that employees and employers are regarded as partners in their place of work and their respective roles. Mutual respect, esteem, and goodwill underpin the relationship between the employer and the employee. Employees are encouraged and enabled to see their work not merely as a source of income but as providing a service and a benefit to others in society.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in a broad range of office duties and administration assistance, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

The Executive Assistant will provide high-level administrative support to the General Secretary, including managing their diary, preparing an annual General Secretariat calendar, and maintaining a record of current and completed projects and tasks. The role also involves monitoring and reporting on key activities and issues being discussed by the various Bishops Commissions, and administering all incoming correspondence to the General Secretary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive support to the General Secretary, including diary management, calendar preparation, and project record-keeping.
  • Monitor and report on key activities and issues being discussed by the Bishops Commissions.
  • Administer all incoming correspondence to the General Secretary and draft responses as required.
