This role plays a pivotal part in the commercialization of intellectual property and research expertise via optimal pathways, ensuring outcomes for all partners while protecting our reputation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and leading opportunities, transactions, and strategic initiatives in life sciences/therapeutics as part of the Life Science team focusing on biomedical technologies, diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics, and digital health.

You will work closely with researchers to identify and assess potential new intellectual property through business development activities, negotiate commercialization transactions such as licenses, start-ups, and research agreements to bring research to market.

You will play a key role in advancing commercialization awareness and skills across the University and engage with partners to shape strategic partnerships. As a senior member of the team, you will lead aspects of the commercialization and IP management process from early-stage research to negotiations and establishing start-up companies.

About you:

To succeed in this role, you will hold a postgraduate degree and relevant experience or 5+ years of experience with a strong track record of success in identifying, managing, and commercializing intellectual property in life science-based research through licenses, collaborations, and/or start-ups.

You will have technical knowledge in a relevant area of life sciences and demonstrated business development expertise and a track record. Your ability to deal with complex situations and communicate clearly will be an asset to the team.

Demonstrated skills required include assessing early-stage technologies, understanding intellectual property management and protection, including patents and other forms of IP; identifying and negotiating commercial opportunities; and scoping, pitching, and negotiating commercialization transactions.

You will be a self-starter and team player with autonomy and responsibility to make a significant contribution to Griffith Enterprise and the University.
