Your Role

As a Project Procurement Manager, you will be instrumental in managing the procurement and planning activities for our projects in Newcastle. Reporting directly to the Senior Operations Manager – NSW Projects, you will lead a proactive team, oversee production timelines, and ensure the timely acquisition of materials for our locomotive, wagon, and bogie construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities, mentor, and motivate a committed team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Align the goals of the Planning and Procurement teams with project delivery from UGL's Newcastle operations, supporting Production and Warehouse teams as internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the creation and upkeep of the production schedule for UGL NSW Projects, ensuring optimization for effective delivery by the production team.
  • Manage the Procurement team to anticipate material needs in accordance with the production schedule, ensuring timely procurement and delivery to projects.
  • Oversee team budgets and project-related costs, including the formulation of demand and capacity plans.
  • Assist in sourcing for new tenders within the UGL Manufacturing and Maintenance sector.
  • Manage key supplier relationships and negotiate commercial agreements to secure optimal pricing and delivery conditions.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing process efficiency and reducing costs within procurement and planning operations.
  • Prepare and present performance reports, offering insights and identifying opportunities for improvement.

About You

You possess substantial experience in Procurement Planning or Supply Chain management, ideally within rail, automotive, military, defense, avionics, or other safety-critical sectors. You excel in fostering positive team dynamics and possess strong communication, negotiation, and leadership capabilities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience as a People Leader, preferably in Procurement Planning or Supply Chain.
  • Comprehensive understanding of production planning, purchasing, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in ERP or MRP systems, including SAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
