About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Planning Manager to join our team at UGL. As a key member of our Newcastle Projects team, you will play a critical role in overseeing the planning and procurement processes for our locomotive, wagon, and bogie build projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a Dynamic Team: Provide strong leadership, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
  • Align Objectives: Align the objectives of the Planning and Procurement teams with the delivery of projects from UGL's Newcastle operations by supporting the Production and Warehouse teams as internal customers.
  • Oversee Production Planning: Oversee the development and maintenance of the production plan for UGL NSW Projects, ensuring the production plan is optimized to enable NSW production team to deliver effectively.
  • Manage Procurement: Manage UGL NSW Project's Procurement team to forecast material requirements in line with the production plan. Manage your team to transact the procurement plan and ensuring timely delivery of materials to projects.
  • Manage Team Budgets: Manage team budgets and costs incurred to projects including the development of demand and capacity plans for the team.
  • Support Tender Sourcing: Support new tender sourcing requirements for the UGL Manufacturing and Maintenance business.
  • Oversee Supplier Relationships: Oversee major supplier relationships and the negotiation of commercial terms to secure the best pricing and delivery terms.
  • Drive Process Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs in procurement and planning processes to drive success and innovation.
  • Prepare Performance Reports: Prepare and submit performance reports, providing insights and identifying areas for improvement.
About You

You are an experienced leader in Procurement Planning or Supply Chain management, with a background in rail, automotive, military, Defence, avionics, or other safety-critical environments. You excel in creating positive team cultures and have strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience as a People Leader – ideally in Procurement Planning or Supply Chain.
  • Knowledge of Production Planning: In-depth knowledge of production planning, purchasing, and quality control.
  • ERP/MRP Systems: Proficiency in ERP or MRP systems including SAP.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
