As a key member of our Credit Decisioning Department, you will play a critical role in shaping our credit strategy and ensuring the soundness of our lending decisions. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving credit proposals, facility grading, and credit strategy for our Sydney operations in the Asia Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review credit applications submitted by front office and ensure all possible credit risks are adequately identified and meet compliance requirements.
  • Prepare executive summaries, form opinions, and seek approval from the relevant authority according to internal criteria.
  • Conduct corporate and industrial research during the review process, which may require domestic and/or international travel.
  • Address queries from Senior Managers, including Tokyo Head Office, Credit Review Department, external Audit, Australian and Japanese Regulators, and other relevant departments as required.
  • Review and assess Credit Monitoring applications submitted by front office to monitor the credit standing of an obligor in a timely manner.
  • Instruct front office to conduct Credit Monitoring when a trigger event requiring review of credit standing occurs.
  • Prepare reports related to internal and external reporting and inspection processes, such as quarterly internal self-assessment, J-FSA inspection, and APRA onsite credit review.
  • Assist MD, CDAPD (Sydney) in managing and supervising the team through effective coaching and guidance.
  • Support MD, CDAPD (Sydney) in monitoring team members' performance, providing feedback, and fostering their development.
  • Provide front office with necessary guidance on credit policy and bank procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in a credit approval, portfolio management, or front office position with a bank or financial institution for leveraged finance, project finance, and/or corporate and institutional clients.
  • Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Impaired asset management experience.
  • A solid understanding of financial statements, financial products, and debt facility documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking practices and processes of the role of the credit department within a bank.
  • Strong understanding of credit processes within a bank and related administration.
  • High level of numeracy and strong financial analysis skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communicator, both verbally and in writing at business level.
  • Influencing skills, both in writing through presenting a persuasive argument and verbally when handling objections.
  • Ability to condense complex issues into a readable format in report writing or through other communications.
  • Tertiary qualification in a business-related field.
