Northern Editor Role

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a seasoned journalist to take on the position of Northern Editor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing four regional mastheads, including the Broome Advertiser and the North West Telegraph. They will write and edit stories that keep communities informed and shape the narrative of our State.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather and write original news stories for publication in print and online.
  • Develop positive relationships with key people and organisations.
  • Break news stories and create engaging content.
  • Steer the editorial direction of the Northern papers.
  • Interview and photograph subjects confidently and professionally.
  • Lead a small team of reporters.
  • Work cohesively as part of our senior regional leadership team.
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements:
  • The ability to work under high pressure.
  • At least two years' experience as a reporter.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • An eye for detail, a head for news and a hunger for the truth.
  • A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A passion for local news.
